Fuel Cell Electric Bus Fleet

BC Transit

Transit buses operating on hybridized hydrogen fuel cells can provide a 62% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions relative to their diesel equivalents.

BC Transit is leading a project to build 20 hybrid fuel cell buses for commercial operation that will be showcased during the 2010 Olympic Games. The 2010 Games, billed as the “Sustainable Games”, presents a singular opportunity to showcase a location, a technology and a jurisdiction that offer environmental solutions and innovate opportunities to the world.

Following a trial of earlier generation fuel cell buses from 1998 to 2000, BC Transit is again leading the way to cleaner air with the world’s largest fleet of fuel cell buses operating in regular transit service in Whistler BC.
