As a pioneer in the global sector, British Columbia, Canada has evolved as a world leader in the development and commercialization of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.

Today, hydrogen and fuel cells developed and produced by BC companies are being rigorously tested and commercially deployed in the materials handling, vehicular and backup power markets. Since the 1980's, we have developed a critical mass of expertise, knowledge and experience in the field.

The hydrogen and fuel cell sector now stands at a pivotal juncture – investment is rising, costs are falling, and technology is rapidly advancing. Leading vehicle manufacturers worldwide have indicated that from 2015 onwards, a significant number of fuel cell electric vehicles could be commercialized. However, more hydrogen fueling stations must be put in place.

To accelerate the adoption and commercialization of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, we offer:

• Skilled technical and manufacturing personnel
• Associated university and government research activities
• Capacity to assist in R&D commercialization programs
• Experience in deploying clean products in near-term markets
• Data for developing international codes and standards
• The provision of high-volume manufacturing technologies to enable mass market penetration
• Demonstration strategies for media and the general public to witness the benefits first-hand

Funding for projects has historically been shared with private sources to complement the public contribution from all levels of government. We encourage your involvement as we undertake new initiatives.
