The Institute for Integrated Energy Systems at the University of Victoria (IESVic) promotes feasible paths to sustainable energy systems by developing new technologies and perspectives to overcome barriers to the widespread adoption of sustainable energy. Founded in 1989, IESVic is a multi-disciplinary centre conducting original research to develop key technologies for sustainable energy systems and actively promotes the development of sensible, clean energy alternatives. Our specific areas of expertise are fuel cells, hydrogen systems and energy systems.

IESVic research laboratories include fuel cell testing and diagnostics, laser-based measurement techniques, computational modelling tools, a dynamometer, a FC powered scooter, and a test bed integrating renewable energy, electrolysis and fuel cells, an active magnetic refrigeration test bed, hydrogen storage facilities, and characterization of hydrogen synthesizing enzymes. IESVic research is conducted in collaboration with leading Canadian and international industrial partners.

The Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (CHFCA) is the association representation Canada's world-recognized hydrogen and fuel cell sector. The CHFCA works to raise awareness of the economic, environmental and social benefits of hydrogen and fuel cells. We are a national, non-profit association providing services and support to Canadian corporations, governments and educational institutions promoting, developing, demonstrating and deploying hydrogen and fuel cell products and services in Canada.

The University of British Columbia, Canada, established in 1908, educates a student population of 50,000 on major campuses in two cities and holds an international reputation for excellence in advanced research and learning.

The Clean Energy Research Centre (CERC) is a multi-disciplinary centre housed in the Faculty of Applied Science at the University of British Columbia, Canada. CERC will be officially opened later in 2006, and it will provide state-of-the art research facilities for the exploration of clean energy technology. The goal of CERC is to promote and explore the use of sustainable energy sources through scientific discovery and engineering development of a wide range of clean energy technologies. These technologies include: clean burning engines, catalytic NOx reduction, high temperature materials, energy loss from fouling and coking, renewable energy, new fuels from biological processes, natural gas hydrate technology, new hydrogen production and energy storage methods, and fuel cell systems and components.

Canada’s second busiest airport, YVR welcomed 17.5 million passengers, was the gateway for 226,234 tonnes of cargo, and had 274,410 runway takeoffs and landings in 2007.

The Airport Authority assumed the management and operation of YVR from Transport Canada in 1992. YVR is operated under the provisions of a long-term lease with the Government of Canada. The Airport Authority has no shareholders and all excess of revenue over expenditures is re-invested in airport developments and service improvements.
